That's the Way It Is with You is a Partridge Family song.
In real life[]
The song was written by Harriet Schock, who also recorded it for her own album, Hollywood Town. It was inspired by the man she was in love with at the time.[1] It can be found on Bulletin Board.
On the series[]
In Al in the Family, the Partridge Family rehearses "That's the Way It Is with You" on the stage at the West Winds Hotel. The only person in the audience is Alan Kincaid, who applauds and tells them it's a great song. That evening, they perform part of the song on the same stage in front of a live audience, until Alan pushes a red button labeled "DO NOT TOUCH," which causes the stage lights to go out.
