The song was written by Rick Segall, who used to sing it while playing Wiffle ball with Ricky.[1] It can be found on Ricky Segall & the Segalls and was also released as the B-side of Sooner or Later.
On the series[]
In The Strike-Out King, Ricky sings a song for Danny Partridge about Willie Mays, who he says is his favorite baseball player. Chris plays drums, Keith plays banjo, Laurie plays tambourine, and Shirley plays keyboards, although only the drums and the banjo can be heard.
