Reuben Kincaid is The Partridge Family's business manager. He was approached by Danny (and Tracy) in hopes that he would sign The Partridge Family after hearing the recording they'd taped.
Background[]
When Reuben was a kid, he made friends by playing sports.[7] He took a few drama courses in college and played the princess in a production of Rumpelstiltskin.[8] He used to go to pre-med school, but dropped out.[9] He was drafted into the U.S. army in 1952.[10] He served in Korea, where he learned how to light a campfire with a flamethrower.[11] He has a medal for marksmanship.[12] He used to spend a lot of time at horse races.[13] He lived with Clara Kincaid until the late '60s, when she moved to Yonkers.[14]
On the series[]
Reuben is a representative of a large recording company who visits the Partridges' hometown to visit some local disc jockeys. Danny, with Tracy tagging along, manages to find Reuben's hotel room number and visit him to try to convince him to manage them. Reuben shuts the door in their faces, so Danny calls Reuben and plays Let the Good Times In over the phone. Reuben hangs up on them, so Danny and Tracy follow Reuben to the airport, where he's about to fly home. Danny follows him into the bathroom and plays the song, after which Reuben admits that it's a "cute little tune" and agrees to manage them. He gets them a record contract and a performance at Caesar's Palace.
Over the next few years, the Partridge Family is Reuben's only success. But in Two for the Show, he signs another successful act, Andy & David.
Personality[]
Reuben claims to not like children, as Chris stated: "He says kids should be seen but not tolerated."[15] But the fact that every time Danny rings him in the middle of the night telling him to rush over, he drops everything and rushes over. In This Is My Song, he even lied to Bonnie Kleinschmitt and told her he was "slipping into something more comfortable," but instead rushed to the Partridges.
