Phyllis Goldberg is a San Pueblo High School student.
Background[]
Phyllis is such a boring public speaker that kids used to walk out on her in show and tell. However, she's studied political science and has written for the school paper. She's very smart and understands all the issues affecting her school.
On the series[]
Phyllis runs for student body president against Keith Partridge, with Laurie Partridge as her campaign manager. At first Phyllis lacks confidence, and the more charismatic Keith steals her audience without even meaning to just by walking down the hall where she's giving a speech. However, Danny Partridge polls the students and finds that kids are responding to Phyllis's intelligence - every time Keith gives a speech, his support goes down. Phyllis challenges Keith to a debate in the auditorium and manages to win over a lot of his fans. During the candidates' next speech, Keith tells the crowd that Phyllis is the superior candidate and everyone should vote for her. He still wins the election, but running for president improved Phyllis's social status enough that she manages to get a date with Bobby Baser. Keith makes her his presidential advisor.
