Melinda is a student at San Pueblo High School. She has a crush on Keith Partridge, who is much shorter than she is. She's also a good friend of Laurie Partridge. When Keith asks her to be a character witness at Laurie's trial, Melinda says she'll say anything Keith wants her to as long as he goes to the dance with her. Keith agrees.
