Clara Kincaid is the mother of Reuben Kincaid.
Background[]
Reuben lived with his mother until the late 1960s, when she moved to Yonkers.[1] Clara is a cheapskate who gives Reuben a pair of $2 airplane earbuds for his birthday and packs wax paper and paper towels if she's going to a city where those things cost more than they do at home.
On the series[]
In Reuben Kincaid Lives, the Partridges persuade Clara to come to San Pueblo for Reuben's birthday. Reuben is convinced that he is dying, because he can't imagine his mother spending money on a plane ticket unless there was a really extreme situation. Over the next few days, Clara tries and fails to convince Reuben that he isn't dying. She meets Bonnie Kleinschmidt and grills her about her and Reuben's plans for the future. The Partridges, Reuben, Bonnie, and Clara all go to a restaurant, where the others throw Reuben a surprise party. Reuben turns down Clara's present because he won't need presents when he's dead. Clara is so offended that she takes the earbuds back (so she can give them to Reuben for Christmas) and plans to take the first plane home. Reuben is finally convinced that he isn't dying, because there's no way Clara would spend money flying back home, only to have to return to San Pueblo for his funeral. Clara attends the Partridge Family's next concert. She and Bonnie sit on opposite sides of Reuben. Before she flies back home, she switches flights so she can be on the same plane as Bonnie and interrogate her some more.
