Chuck Corwin is the captain of an aircraft carrier.

Chuck spent his teen years in or near San Pueblo. In high school, he was the senior class president and a three-year letterman. His girlfriend was Shirley Partridge. They were in a school play together. He bought a car in order to take her to Muldoon's Point. They also went to the senior prom together, then stayed out until 3 AM. He signed her yearbook "To Shirley, with love and kisses. Cuddles." Sometime after high school, they broke up. At some point in his adult life, Chuck worked in the tropics, where he loved watching the sunsets and looking at the moon. He's also been to Athens and Naples. He used to be the captain of an aircraft carrier that has just been retired. Now he's been assigned to a different carrier that's based in San Francisco. He hasn't seen it yet.

Chuck stops in San Pueblo to make a speech. When Laurie Partridge learns that he used to date Shirley, she phones his hotel room to invite him to the Partridge house for dinner. He shows up in his uniform. After dinner, Chuck kisses Shirley, to Danny Partridge's shock. The next day, he calls the Partridges to ask Shirley on a date. That evening, he shows up in civilian clothes. He takes her to Ziggy's, then to Muldoon's Point. Danny and Keith Partridge drive the bus up to the point and interrupt Chuck and Shirley's date in order to tell Shirley that Chuck has another girlfriend in San Francisco, which he thinks because he overheard Chuck talking on the phone about the new aircraft carrier and referring to it as "her." Chuck explains the misunderstanding. The brothers flee in embarrassment. Before Chuck leaves San Pueblo, he stops at the Partridge house again to say goodbye to Shirley. They agree to stay in touch. Then Reuben Kincaid drives him to the airport.
