Bye Bye Blackbird is a popular standard originally written in 1926 by Ray Henderson and Mort Dixon.
In real life[]
The song was recorded without David Cassidy, who lip-synchs to Tom Bahler's vocals. The song was never released on an official Partridge Family album. However, it was released as a single under the name Colagé. This version doesn't have Ray Bolger or Shirley Jones's vocals. The same version can be found on Missing Pieces.
On the series[]
In Whatever Happened to the Old Songs? Amanda Renfrew requests that Fred sing "Bye Bye Blackbird," which he used to sing to her when they were courting. He does, backed by the Partridge Family.
