On the series[]

In Whatever Happened to the Old Songs? the family plays the song in their garage while Fred Renfrew sings along and plays the mandolin.

In Mom Drops Out, the kids sing a deliberately bad version of the song in the garage, and then play an even worse one in front of an audience, to make the point that they need Shirley Partridge. According to the person who introduces them at the venue, the song has become a big hit.
