Alan Kincaid is the nephew of Reuben Kincaid.
Background[]
Alan has spent his life failing at almost everything he tried. He has worked with various relatives trying unsuccessfully to find something he's good at, including working at his Uncle Jack's music store. He harbors a secret ambition to be a stand-up comedian.
On the series[]
Reuben hires Alan as his assistant manager. Alan writes down everything Reuben tells him about how to be a manager. He admits to Keith, Laurie, and Danny Partridge that he wants to be a comedian. He shows them his routine, and they like it until Shirley Partridge and Reuben walk into the room. Alan freezes up because there are too many people watching him. Reuben has to go to San Francisco for two days, and he leaves Alan in charge of the Partridge Family until then. Alan does a good job until he loses the notebook where he wrote down what Reuben told him. Then he forgets to get them a reservation at a restaurant, gets mismatched costumes for the Partridges, and pushes a red button labeled "DO NOT TOUCH" in the middle of their performance, which causes the stage lights to go out. Alan admits to Shirley that he lost his notebook. He thinks his only option left is to go to his last remaining relative, Uncle Zorba, who wants to teach him the demolition derby. Instead, the Partridges get him a gig as a comedian. Alan suffers from severe stage fright at first, but once he overcomes it enough to start talking, he's a big hit with the audience. At the end of the episode, Reuben books him at the Lido Club, a lounge at the bowling alley in San Pueblo.
