A.E. Simon is one of the owners of the Fire House, a small nightclub in Detroit.
Background[]
The Simon brothers bought the Fire House planning to turn it into a community club, a place where poor people can go to see name acts. They keep overhead down by having acts stay at the Fire House instead of at a hotel. Unfortunately, in order to start the club, they had to borrow a large amount of money from Heavy. They'll have him paid off in a month and a half, but they're running short on money, and if they can't pay Heavy back, they'll lose the club and end up homeless.
On the series[]
The brothers book the Temptations at the Fire House, but thanks to an error by the booking agent, the Temptations go to Tucson, Arizona while the Partridge Family ends up in Detroit. They play the Fire House anyway, but only one person shows up, a Partridge Family fan named Albert. The Simons are sure they'll lose the Fire House because even if they manage to completely fill the club the next night, they still won't have enough money to pay Heavy. The Partridges suggest throwing a block party to raise funds. The Simons are skeptical of the idea, but go along with it. A.E. arranges Bandala, a song Keith Partridge wrote specifically for the party. A.E.'s arrangements call for violins, so Danny Partridge goes to the Afro-American Cultural Center and comes back with a small marching band. The block party is such a success that the Simons completely pay Heavy back that night.
